Too much tourism

You make some good points and I'm with you on everything.  I didn't mean to imply that Bamberg needs more tourists.  I'd be the first to argue the opposite, in fact.  I just meant Franconia in general, and specifically some of the obscurer places which I feel may be dying and need more support (not sure if this is true or not, but many brewpubs seem very slow, although perhaps a lot of this has to do with the time of day we're visiting).  I've made seven or eight trips now from America to Franconia, and other than our first visit in 2009, have only stayed in Bamberg I believe once.  We tend to stay in the peaceful country gasthofs and focus on the breweries that take a bit more work to get to.

And also as an American, I apologize for the brutish behavior exhibited by tourists from my country.  There truly is nothing more bothersome than unruly Americans who lack self-awareness and common decency. I encounter enough of them daily and it's especially disheartening to witness this when traveling.
