Genitive in German and English

Jason. I don't disagree with any of that, I love the differences between countries, regions, etc., etc.  In fact, I'm really so sad that so many of these differences are being rapidly eroded and, sorry to my American friends (but the USA is the great colonial country of the late 20th/early 21st centuries), Americanised.  Really, all i am asking for is a little latitude by German (and the same used to go for French speakers) in our non-native use of their language.

As for the apostrophe, it would probably be better if it disappeared altogether, as I'm not not sure that, in a language where grammer is more understood by context, it is needed.  I get more upset by the completely random use of the comma, the abuse of which in written English really does cause confusion.  See all those commas?  So often I read the same sentence where they would be completely omitted.
