OT: Barry & Anyone Else - Insulin

Nuts & cheese make an excellent pancreas-friendly, calorie-laden snack that's easy to get scarfed on travel days IME. (Proper nuts, not including peanuts or cashews.) Not that I have diabetes to deal with, but I've been practising what's apparently very good for fending off and even reversing T2D: intermittent fasting. I.e. confining all my eating to a 4-hour window or so. (N.b. NOT the sort of "5:2" dieting apparently popular in the UK and incorrectly called "intermittent fasting".)

It's not beer-drinking-at-noon friendly though, and I don't do it every day, normally 3 - 4 times a week. And it's perhaps easier for me to do, since I stopped eating nearly all starches (non-fermented, that is) last year, so my blood sugar swings might be considerably smoother than they used to be. It's exercise for the metabolism and cellular regeneration.

It may sound horrible to skip breakfast and put lunch off til late afternoon, but it's actually trivial for me now. The first couple of times were a bit strange, but now it just seems normal to not eat anything til afternoon. And that first beer of the day for breakfast at 17:00...tastes  and feels even better.
