| A slight overreaction... I don't buy Mahrs anyway, certainly not from the bottle. I would contend that it's a stupid idea to have cases in your own livery. At least, that's more often the case (pun intended) than not ie is common practice. So your criticism falls on most Franconian (and German)breweries. There is no way they lose 200.000€ a year, that's a complete fabrication, though I'm speculating. And yes, having generic cases would be more sensible. This whole Pfand system and the fuss going on right now to change it completely bores me. If you buy a case, you pay what the case is worth as deposit. Done. I was even sat in Aisch today and some old guys were complaining about it. It's a DEPOSIT for goodness sake. I've bought 2 barrels for Xmas and didn't have to pay a deposit on either, just give my address. I could have said anything. But people actually won't buy barrelled beer from certain breweries because they charge a deposit! It's ridiculous! As for the environmentally friendly point, I don't mind that. But cardboard boxes aren't meant to carry 20bottles. I reckon they'll pack less bottles and make more money. Like their little stubby bottles which people insist on buying even though they cost more than a 0,5. But the supermarkets won't like it, and that's where most people get their beer mostly. I reckon the reason people don't come back is because the beer is s**** - bring it back to its best you might get them to return. |
