| Exactly, Gerhard. Well, there's no administration unit of Franconia in the Bavarian boundaries but three: Ober-, Mittel- and Unterfranken. It makes much more sense to look at Franconia as a whole cultural, tribal and lingual unit because modern boundaries are quite random. Results of political games played by mighty men. But cultural heritage is something that can't be changed by politics unless you drive the people away. It is a long story from the arrival of the first Franconian settlers with a very distinctive way of life to our modern times. |
