    Old school for the likes of me though! When I first started learning about pale ale (for lack of a better term), Chinooks were still new. That was 1992, or thereabouts.

I first started homebrewing shortly thereafter, and I ended up brewing "American" styled pale ale & IPA, and an English IPA. The latter was obvs exclusively EKGs in flavour & aroma. New Year's Day 1997 was my last time brewing back then.

The last year or two of my brewing here, 2013-15, was pretty much Polaris-dominated; I was just astonished by such a hop being Bavarian (if not Franconian...not sure exactly where it's from). But then I got tired of it.

Yes, astringent, overpowering, over-hopped. I liked that then, was proud of it, but now, nope. I grew up a bit, I guess. 50+ is as good a time as any to start, eh?
