| I don't see how smartphone tickets could work in Britain because you so often have to insert your ticket in the turnstile to let you out at your destination station. All those turnstiles would have to be fitted with QR-code readers. I also don't understand why those turnstiles are needed at all, or why you have to show your ticket when *leaving* a train, but that's just the British (and somewhat American?) way. I can't recall encountering such a system elsewhere in the few bits of Europe I've travelled in. |
