Griess Keller

To be fair to the "bringing your own food in" idea...it is a long, long tradition for people to basically have a picnic auf dem Keller. Even written into Bavarian law is something against banning people from bringing their own food in to a Biergarten or Bierkeller. It goes back to some uproar or other when proprietors tried to force patrons to buy what they had on offer.

It's more about people who visit often, who perhaps don't want to spend a fortune on "going out" to eat, rather than beer tourists. And families.

I personally bring my own nuts and things along on my extremely rare Bierkeller visits these days (2 so far this year, as opposed to 3 or 4 /  week a couple years ago or more), as there's just not much for me to eat at the Bierkeller any more, aside from cheese.

Too bad that Barry (and AndyH?) had such bad experiences there, as it really is a beautiful setting and quality beer. I can't recall anyone else ever having not really enjoyed the place or having had such bad luck. (I forget now what Jason makes of it.)
