What's going on with paying for drinks etc  over there?  Here in UK, cash has more or less disappeared  and everything is bought using  a card.  I know that  the Germans are very fond of cash money though .   Paying for  drinks  with a UK sterling-based  card in Germany would add  a rip-off bank conversion charge to every transaction.
