I'm not sure about this Jimbo... for sure, laws in the US and UK are rare in these cases, however, the law can be used in specific cases to decide if a crime has been committed.  Germany's privacy laws aren't especially stringent, they are in line with much of Europe apparently. But as a letigious country where people are very aware of their 'rights', you may well be more at risk here than elsewhere.
