Musings on current situation in Bamberg |

Very hard to see how pubs are going to open here with social distancing in place. The whole point of going out on a weekend for much of Britain is to do the very opposite of social distancing in a crowded space. Up here in the NorthEast, very few urban pubs have outdoor space, except for the odd, tiny smoker's terrace. Controlling numbers on a busy evening would be all but impossible. Micropubs might be better placed, but would they want to open at less than 50% capacity? As for Germany, are there plans to relax measures if the infection subsides? Is there any government support for the hospitality industry? They seem to have found €9bn down the back of the sofa for Lufthansa. Would love to be out there lending my support, but our trip in 2 weeks time has obviously been cancelled. |
