On Sunday, June 1, 2008, I took a train from Bamberg to Eggolsheim and walked to Witzgall Keller only to find it inexplicably closed. There was a note on the door (printed, not handwritten). The the help of a phone call to Nick B., we determined that the Keller was closed because there was a small festival in town in honor of firemen. So, I walked the few extra miles to Schlammersdorf and listened for music, etc., and found the event. Nick joined me later. It turned out OK in the end with just a bit more walking, but when I first found the Keller closed, my heart sank.  |
