Yep, it was a good afternoon. I think that it was both the lack of hops - I suppose that you had got used to the new breed of US-stuff - and the strength - you used to prepare some strange mixtures of normal Franken beers, 'watered' down with low alcohol stuff. Sounded dire but there you are, it's all down to personal taste. I can't really remember how Koelsch tasted - I only remember that it came in little glasses (one mouthful), was full of froth and cost a lot! There's loads of quite low strength beers in the Uk now - see my posting about the Albion in Conwy. And certainly no shortage of hops, especially those from your native country! |
