If only Germany would allow that.   I have done that though for other countries.  And actually it does come in handy for figuring out directions in places like Prague where it could be confusing.  First time I drove into Prague I drove straight to the hotel though all the narrow confusing streets without having to use GPS.  My friends were astonished.  How did you do that?  Well I practiced (virtually).  It really is an amazing tool.
