Black Country Woman (70's pop song), Black Country Mild. I've had Batham's Bitter (too strong & sweet for little me, 'been told you need to get 3 pints necked before you *get* it) but not their mild. Really need to find that. I've had the other famous traditional Black Country brewery's mild though, OK. (Holden's?) How long and why has it been called the "Black Country"? Our week in NW Wales (never been to S Wales, which I've been told is not "proper Wales, much too soft down sowf") was fabulous a few years ago. The Edwardian castles alone are worth the investment in time to get there. And the Welsh are *friendly*, though quiet. On a par with small-town N Yorks, I suppose (say, Whitby). Maybe even as friendly as Kentish folk. (Or folk of Kent?) |
