| Interesting Barry, seems like you had a good trip. Just some comments, the pub next door to the brewery at Pivovarsky Dvur Chyne belongs to the brewery. It is called a Krycma (I think, missing some accents) - this broadly means 'pub', I think it would be Kneipe in German and has similar features (think Catweasel). It's a great pub in winter and the beer is a little cheaper than the brewery interestingly plus the range can be different. At least you visited both to compare. I am not surprised that you liked the Konrad beer at Tramway, though I notice you haven't (yet) mentioned U Tunelu which is a Konrad tap and one I thoroughly recommended for you - I hope it wasn't an omission? I'm slightly surprised at your animosity to Pilsner Urquell - when it's good (i.e. at Hrocha) it's excellent, not just ok. Some of the best pubs in Prague are PU pubs and even if the beer is brewed by a multinational it's not one to turn your nose up to; you'll miss out some real gems. Surprised you drank Bayerisches bier in Prague (Aldersbacher) but as you wish. You missed Vinohradsky Pivovar too... tut tut. Anyway, all critique tongue in cheek, you can't do them all! Main thing is you enjoyed it. Oh, one other thing; Google maps (other technology available) is a God send on the move. |
