I really have never, ever gotten why people rave about Budweiser. It's just so bland and devoid of malty or hoppy or any real enjoyable-beer-making character...compared to even the ubiquitous PU. And it's stronger, at that...wait...now I understand why Britons tend to wet themselves over it. Bang for buck.

No, really, is it just that it's that name and is cleaner and ergo more drinkable than the American namesake?

PU OTOH, is still a wonderful beer. A slight bit of diacytel, the perfect amount to train homebrew judges (and homebrewers) in how to perceive when enough is enough. And a bit of residual sweetness (though also 44 gm residual sugar per litre vs 30 for Jever...beware!) with noble hops and malt...just a wonderful beer. Pity they don't do a proper 10° or 9°; the special Swedish version Gunnar was kind to gift Becki & me was ...sorry... terribly disappointing.
