Mitterteich

Can one get to Mitterteich via train/bus? Nothing seems to go via VGN nor buses to Mitterteich. Prefer to go Bamberg-->Mitterteich on a Sunday, Sept 24. Seems closest I can get using VGN is Bayreuth or Marktredwitz without a taxi. Noticed Kulmbach just north of Bayreuth might be a day option also. Any ideas to Mitterteich?
