Not going to repeat my oft stated views of society, anyone interested (can't be that many!) know them well enough by now, I just have to disagree about starting small businesses and then selling out to big corporations. Ok, if you start a business just for the sake of trying to make money, fine, I could be wrong, but I thought that most people started things like breweries because they were keen on beer, more a romantic kind of idea but that's me. And you can dip in and out of capitalism, a lot of people do it in one way or another. For example, I was truly gratified when my former pub, the Bell in Bath, was saved from an unholy fate when the regulars clubbed together and bought it - it is now run as a community pub, as are quite a few others. I actually can't see why a brewery couldn't be run like that either. |
