First Franconia trip

Agreed with Jason, if this is a first time visit to Bamberg, plan to spend a day or two just in the city on its own. An idea might be to think about Bierkeller/garten visits rather than explicitly *breweries* only. If you're coming from the US as a beer tourist, like I used to, the natural tendency is to think of visiting breweries themselves, as that's where the action is in the US. But here, the Bierkeller experience is a huge thing that simply doesn't exist in the US, for the most part. But that depends on the timing...does autumn mean September or November?
