I shall assume your time in Colorado is where you know 3/4s from. Are you also, like him, an Oregonian expat? AFA calling one family of hops the best, meh. I don't know that German noble hops work so well with ale/top/warmer-fermenting yeasts. They need a cleaner, simpler beer. At least, this is what my very limited sampling of German-hopped ales from here and the US & UK lead me to surmise. And I've not had enough experience sampling lagers brewed with other sorts of hops. I can imagine that the various onion/garlic hops would make a pretty nasty lager. What I absolutely can not wrap my head around is this new thing with the murky "IPAs". GET OFF MY LAWN!!! |
