Aichinger and Knoblach

While I always like to revisit old favorites it's also nice to be able to get out and visit places I haven't gotten around to before.  Luckily my friend Isa volunteered to be designated driver on Friday and Saturday and so on Friday visited Aichinger before going over to the Bockbieranstich at Wagner in Merkendorf.  Had all three of the beers going at Aichinger (Zwickl, Spezial, and Bock).  Of the three I liked the Spezial lager the best.  We didn't stay long at the BBA at Wagner as it was crowded and more for the younger crowd but enjoyed a couple of bocks anyhow.  Hummel's BBA was more my style.

On Saturday made an afternoon visit to Knoblach and was very impressed.  Atmosphere, food, nice hoppy Ungespundet Lager, great bock beer (2nd only to Hummel on this trip), and some very nice schnapps.  This place will be on my regular visit list.  Also a place that can easily be included on a future hike.

Most of the rest of the trip was spent in and around Bamberg and really nothing new to report there.  Spent time at Stohrenkeller as usual.  Galerie Am Stephensburg for some gravity poured Rossdorfer beer.  On the last night some gravity poured Monchsambacher at Rotenschild.
