I'm not really sure, if there so much of diacetyl in the PU, during my last visit to Prague and Central Bohemia this summer I could not detect it. But what is intended by most of the traditional czech brewers is a "buttery" smell or taste, caused by a certain degree of "oxydation". It belongs to a real czech "světlý ležák"!
Even the greatest examples from small independent brewers show this buttery taste, e.g. Vinohradský, Unětický or Kout'...
