Forgive me, but what question are you answering here? It's not at all clear, because you go on to say...

...at which point I have to think we're going around in circles here. "Franken aware"? Why not "Franconia aware"? If Franconia is not so well known to English speakers, why would you then use the even less-known German name for the place when referring to it?

Or...what am I missing here?

I went to some length in that other post to explore how we use inflected and "pure" forms of place names as adjectives, and wondering why that may be.
