| A shipload? Like, which? Anyway, I'm not sure where you're going with the 'ß' thing, if either of the two posters above made an egregious error. We had a detailed discussion of das Eszett here recently, including which variants of it were used when. In any case, Jason's use of it in "Schloss" is worrisome indeed! What are they teaching kids today -- just any old thing? (Spelling reform again, that 'o' is too "short" for an 'ß' nowadays, they say.) (Keeps me on my toes, having to check these things for myself...schließen/schloss/geschlossen) |
