Interesting last few days, includes a visit to Englehardt Keller in Ebensfeld (nice location, good kellerbier) and two visits to the local footie club to watch champions league - bad night Wednesday but nice Ebensfeld beer and very affable people. On Wednesday afternoon, took an easy trip to Brauerei Schroll, Reckendorf, with Jason. It is highly recommended by Frank and really enjoyed by us. Great atmosphere and service, beautiful beer and a place that we'll return to. For reasons unknown (or perhaps below explains), Schlossbrauerei gestaette and garden were both closed. But no matter, as it turned out. On Himmelsfahrt, we walked to Wiesen, looking forward to Hellmuth with but there was a Dorffest and Hellmuth closed at 2 pm, just before we arrived! However, Schlossbrauerei were there in force, maybe accounting for Wednesday's closure. The Dunkles was pleasant, without being outstanding, and we ended up with 2 nearly full Mass (plural ?), For the price of Seidlas, as they ran out of glasses. Then a 4 kms walk to Nedensdorf for more Paradieshopfen, I said that I liked it! Only problem was getting served. Why oh why do some breweries skimp on staff, specially on days when they know they're going to be busy? A dozen of us in the garden waited and waited, eventually, I tired of waiting and took our glasses to the Ausschank where there were 2 people basically doing nothing! Still, they filled them up without a murmur, only problem was sorting out the bill, as we had already had 2 seidlas via the waitress! I can't real!y understand why some places make it so difficult to buy a beer. I know that the big profit is on food but they are breweries after all. A quaint tradition or just bad management? We finished off in Schwanden Ebensfeld with very tasty Dunkles and another serving trauma - but I won't bore you! |
