Second night in Loewenbrau (watching Bayern beat Benfica) was as entertaining as the previous night. On Thursday, we decided we needed a bit of exercise, so took the train to Strullendorf and walked to Rossdorf. Finally sampled the Braunbier and pleased to say that it was excellent, lovely and malty - must go back for more! Rambled on to Geissfeld to make good on my promise to give Griess another go. It was much livelier than previous visit and more friendly. As for the beer, yes, it was a bit better but still wouldnt be our favourite. It didn't have that slightly metallic back taste but, instead, had a kind of burnt taste - hard to define. Pleased to find Krug was open and we were really impressed! Very friendly staff, excellent beer, malty and hoppy, a bit hard to define but exceedingly drinkable. Caught the 970 back to Bamberg and snook into the Schwemm in Faessla for a quick Like and enjoyed a bit of crack with some of the regulars before heading home. Next, Neder this pM. |
