Dark L & Clear L

I've never heard of this. Maybe it's more of an issue in British (sorry Barry, proper) English than for Americans. It just sounds oberpfälzerisch to me. He may even be exaggerating his accent a bit for the fun of the programme. (I've only watched the first minute or so though.)

I don't remember my teachers saying anything about how I was pronouncing my L's, nor working with anyone else on their pronunciation FTM, but maybe that's because my R's drove them to distraction.
