Dogs in pubs

Cute looking beast!  More important, that's a proper pub for a dog, tiled floor, leatherette seats, wooden tables, absolutely right.  But, restaurant pubs (which most in Llandudno tend to be), with lots of soft furnishing, IMHO, not really suitable for any animals: dogs, cats, rabbits, zebras, etc., etc.

Although there is no law banning dogs (and other pets) from pubs and restaurants in the UK, I don't think that the non-dog pubs would relax their rules because an awful lot of people in the UK (although a supposed country of animal lovers) just don't like animals in eating areas.  A pub that was close to where we stayed (the Albert, quite a nice local) lets the owner's dogs run around after 9.30 pm.  So we asked whether we could bring our relation's dogs in and were told 'No, not while food is being served'.  As the time when food is not served is the time when the owner's massive Rhodesian Ridgeback runs loose, I'm not sure whether I'd be trusting my pet poodle or shitzu in his company.

Strangely, although the law is unclear, it seems that dogs etc are banned from pubs and restaurants in Ireland, at least according to a recent case involving a pub in Dublin.  The Food Standards Agency have stated that all pubs should be classed as eating establishments because alcohol is a food (ah, beer, liquid bread!).

In another theme:
Do you mean that there was both bitter and mild available that day?  If so, 'on' is perfectly good English English (is there any other type of English?).  The sweet strong Batham's what?  I don't recall either their mild or bitter being of that description.
