German Bank Accounts

For private users the best bank is the Sparda. They have a Girokonto without a fee, if You get a regular income at this account (p.e. a pension). They have got the place no. 1 in the so-calleed "Kunden-Monitor" (that's a survey of bank customers in a region).

But's only a regional bank. At their website You can find a link "Ihr direkter Weg zu uns", where You get a map with their stores (p.e. in Bamberg, Forchheim and Erlangen).

I have no account at the Sparda bank, because I have my private at the same bank as we have our commercial account. It's not possible to have an account for an enterprise at the Sparda Bank (they don't like the risks and want to focus on the wishes of private customers).

The Sparda Bank is a community (Genossenschaft). So You have to get a member and to buy a share (52 Euro). You get interest if they make profit (normaly they do). Now: 3%.

They have also the possibility of online banking.

You can get cash money at the shops of Rewe, Penny and Netto, if You buy there things for more than 20 Euro (You pay Your purchase and ask for cash money; they burden Your account with the sum). For the so-called "Bankkarte" (bank card) You have to pay 7,50 Euro per year.

A Mastercard is available for 30 Euro fee. You get the fee back, if You use it for more as 2.500 Euro per year.

But I don't know if they accept foreigners without an address in Germany..
