Browsing my Boris Braun app I noticed a Kommunbrauhaus Kaufbeuren in the town of the same name down in the Allgau, in the alpine foothills south of Munich. Checking out the modern and well put together website it seems that they are replicating the Oberpfalz Zoigl tradition, even only opening the gasthof on certain days of the month. There is some spiel about the Zoigl tradition, which must be something of a mystery in this part of Bayern. The snacks look good too. Has anyone visited? Or heard of it? I'm guessing not as I haven't until now. Looks very interesting. Prices are also good for this part of Germany, with a seidla at €2.20 but if you buy 3 it's €1.90 each. Anything below €3 in this part of Bayern is pretty impressive. |
