Completely agree, Prague has changed markedly since I first visited in 2007 (where only Pivovarsly Klub existed from those you listed). Whilst I enjoy trying a wide range of beers in these bars, the sheer range of historical, characterful pubs serving good beer (albeit mainly tankovna Urquel etc) give a real sense of history, culture and place. Sitting in a place like U Hrocha with 30 plus locals is a real insight into Czech drinking culture, even if I don't understand a word. Taking nothing away from the more modern multi tap pubs, it is in these places where you know you're in Prague. Whatever you like, Prague has it - it is a top destination for the beer enthusiast. In my opinion, taking everything into account, it's probably top 3 in the world... now that may open up a can of worms...! |
