Is it not your taxes that make your beer more expensive than elsewhere in Europe? FWIW, another week in Thanet, Kent, found me drinking pints for around 3 quid. (Well, there were also a couple of halves of Evil Keg for 2 quid, both tasty but too fizzy and just not worth the premium.) How does that compare to € / Seidla? 500/568 ml * £3 = £2.64 per Seidla = ...erm...bleedin' strong pound... 3,62 € per Seidla, or up to 1 € more per Seidla than prices in Erlangen are. Worth it for me for quality *cask* ale. It was our first visit there in hop country during green/wet hop season, and so I was able to try a few green/wet hop ales. And honestly, there was just very, very little to notice about them other than that, yes, they were hoppy. But then so are many, many normally (kilned) well-hopped ales. |
