[re-posted as a new topic from way down at the bottom of the board] Hmmm...had a Hölzlein at Zapfhahn yesterday and couldn't finish it. A bit of butterscotch and sweet, and OK, maybe also dirty lines. The garden was heaving though, so I don't think mine was the first of the day, having it 10 hours after they'd opened. The bottle of Griess Kellerbier that replaced it was too clean, OTOH. As was the stuf Joe & I had from the tank at the Keller last weekend, FWIW. Has Griess been cleaned up too much? Where's the mineraliness and hoppiness? Lovely "California" burger though, minus bacon. Mrs's standard burger with Emmentaler was even better. Oh, how I laughed at the prices of the "craft" beer! We really do like the place, may have to stick with bottled local beer though, if they really do have dirty lines. Pity about the hipster crowding in the garden. |
