Internal flights in Germany

I prefer to fly into NUE to pick up a car, but will drive from MUC or FRA if makes sense in terms of time/cost.  Last time over I came from Rome to MUC and then flew out NUE-FRA-SJU, I very much prefer a short morning drive from Hallerndorf to NUE rather than to FRA, even if it means an hour or two more spent on a layover.
