I should say I haven't taken any actual Goethe tests. I have taken the tests to confirm I've passed all the levels of a Goethe Institut approved German-as-foreign-language course, which is a different thing. It's what's required for incoming students. Actual "Goethe tests" are much more rigourous and intensive, apparently. The director of my school, a Londoner(ess), passed the "große Goethe test" and is subsequently allowed to teach German...to Germans in Germany. My intensive course was 25 hours a week for a group of 4 - 10 people or something. Fewer hours are necessary for smaller groups or individuals, to cover the content necessary to pass the tests for the 6 levels over a year. With one-on-one lessons, you can make great progress quite quickly. Mrs had two 25-hour weeks of 1/1 with my teacher and learnt a shedload, 400 € per week IIRC. IIRC, you're from Jersey. Keep this video in mind as your Deutsch improves, saw it on TV just this morning. I'd forgotten that Jersey is a sort of tax haven...you sure you want to leave that behind? :) |
