1 kg of floor-malted malt (btw the same that is being sold by Weyermann under their name) - I usually take 25kg sacks from the local malt company = 0.42 € , using 6 kg for 30 L 1 kg of Citra hops (really expensive one here, only a few other hop types are more expensive) 1 kg = 28 €, using approx 150 grams for 30 L that is 2,52 + 4,20 = 6,72 € per 30 L, i.e. 0,11 € per liter, that is nowadays 0.13 USD per liter... price with VAT/MWST, without "beer tax", "alcohol tax" or whatever it is called (as I do not pay it as the person who brew low amounts) We have also breweries, who are not using floor-malted malt (instead, it is malted in large malt companies like Weyermann do) = cheaper, and who are using chepaer hops (like czech type "Kazbek" for 15 € per kg - then the resulting price is much lower. I don't want to give a feeling that homebrewing is a cheap method how to get a beer because it isn't - you have to use much more water and energy compared to large breweries, and too much time for brewing just a few liters... |
