I have tasted the Polaris-variant (the last of the four variants/kegs) today (saturday 1 p.m.). Good balanced, more too few than too much Polaris aroma. I have missed a counterpart to the Polaris hop (few malt sugar because it's the regular Lager unfiltered compared with an amber ale). Maybe it would better taste together with a fruity hop, p.e. together with the hop Bavaria Mandarina. Only with Polaris the taste begins a little bit empty, but with a good finish. In contrast the variant with Bavaria Mandarina begins with much fruit flavor and is a little bit empty at the palate. Under the line: all variants (I have missed the Hüll Melon-variant) have been a success for the brewery (but the three days have had a very good weather and the Greifenklau Biergarten was full all the time. So around 70 liter per day is only a small share of all sold beers). My favorite variant has been the Hallertau Blanc, followed by Bavaria Mandarina and the Polaris last (although I love Polaris, but not as the only aroma hop). The title of this discussion that I have intended, is not totally correct. For the basis (Zwickel) they have used their regular hops. But for dry hopping they have used single hops. |
