| We had a long conversation with Herr Goeller, proprietor of the Drosendorf brewery, last Thursday. He is a charning man who was happy to discuss the history of the brewery and his own brewing experience. Due to ill health, he has now handed over brewing duties to one of his sons and has a grandson who is studying to be a 'Meisterbrief'. H. Goeller told us that he studied in Kulmach and learned to the techniques of malting at the Bamberg Maltings, from whom he has subsequently purchased all his malt. On Thursday, April 17, Goeller will hold an 'Anstich' of a newly brewed Rauchbier, which uses special Rauch malt bought from the Bamberg Maltings. I'm not sure whether this ia a new beer type from Goeller but will enquire on the day. |
