Sanitizing bottles

A chap was turned away at the local brewpub (Steinbach in Erlangen) recently when he brought in a PET bottle to be filled for takeaway. The barman just said he wasn't going to do it, as he couldn't be sure of the resulting quality of the beer. I personally think that's a bit over the top, but whatever. (No jokes about how low the quality of their beer is to begin with!) On primary & secondary. CAMRA make a big deal about how "real ale" must be served from the vessel in which it underwent secondary fermentation. I wonder, am I überCAMRA, since I drink beer served from the vessel in which *primary* fermentation finished? Can I get extra Spoons vouchers for this?
