| Haven't been to Belgium in 2 or 3 years, so not up to date on prices there. And that was Mostly Ghent and Brugge, which might be pricier than elsewhere. But yes, you pay for the experience. And because it's simply part of the culture, I suspect: cafés used to have only bottled beer, I would speculate. Or at least for a good stretch of time. And yes, they're capitalists, in general. You would appreciate the community-run Café Averechts near our flat though, profits and tips go to charity, people work for free. Their tap (top 6) and bottle prices:  |
