| 'Fraid so, yes. Making Bavaria's regulations national law in 1906 may have had just a little to do with it, although by then, the trend towards that strict set of rules was already nearly nationwide anyway. In the last few years, it's gotten increasingly narrowed. And yet, actual German tradition allowed for all sorts of brewing techniques - some good, some not so much - that are pretty much now the realm of the Belgians (and those elsewhere who model their beers onr Belgian brewing inspiration).
