| Didn't it rain last May/June - commiserations Fred, hope you have a better time of it this year for your bicycle marathon. It can be quite cold in the early days of May due to the Eisheilige (Ice Saints). According to this site (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ice_Saints), the Eisheilige should occur arond May 22, the orignal start date of May 11 having shifted due to the change from the Julian to the Gregorian calendar. However, our experience over the last 4 years is that the cold snap starts around the second week of May, more in line with the original date. We've got so fed up with this that we've shifted our holiday in Eschawo this year to July 12 to August 30, hoping to get some good days in the Freibad. But it's a gamble! |
