| I see them every year at Peterborough Beer Festival where I volunteer for the week. You can spot them a mile off (personal hygene is rarely a priority in some case) funnel and 'panda bottle' in hand. Many times I have been asked to serve them a beer that is not ready, off or at the end of the cask just because they want a tick. Many are rude and obnoxious, espcially when I refuse. In my opinion thay should be banned from bringing in such apparatus. Real Ale is a living product and is not meant to be poured into plastic, thrown about and then left for a few hours/days or goodness knows how long by which time it is a shadow of what the brewer intended it to be. The best thing that happened recently was the cessation of the 'Panda bottle' production which caused widespread panic amongst the bottler fraternity. However I think they have found a way round this as they were still thriving at the event last August. Fortunately this craze hasn't caught hold in the younger beer drinkers and so it is a matter of time before numbers innevitably begin to dwindle and decline. |
