OT: The Nanny State gone mad

Reminder: we are always at the mercy of the idiots. Those include the idiots who ship beer without packing it properly. The Royal Mail is just one of many that decided they were fed up with the problems caused by breakage because of such idiots, and have probably received numerous complaints from those whose non-beer packages were ruined because of said idiots. And that's why you have encountered the situation you just described.
