Whoops...I mis-read. I thought you meant that Stephan had written that paragraph about Spezial, not Fred. I was wondering why Mahr's Braumeister would be talking about Spezial. IOW, this is only Fred's word on what "ungespundet" means (and what's been kicked around here for ages)...not sure we should lend it too much credence! ;)
