Without "cheating", that is, relying only on what I've learnt through personal experience, the "K" stands for as you explain. What else I "know" about it: A strip on a K Streifenkarte or a single K-fare ticket is good for a single journey without transfer, as in, only one leg of a bus route, Tram line or U-Bahn line. I'm not sure if S-Bahn journeys are possible, since the distance between stops might be too great. RE trains are *right* *out*. Exactly how far this journey may be is a mystery to me, something like 2 or 3 U-Bahn stops in Nürnberg or anywhere within the Erlanger 400 zone. That's all I've used it for. Now to cheat...no, I see I'm out of touch. Planning a trip from the nearest bus stop to me to another one I know of that requires a transfer reveals Preisstuffe Z, not K. So apparently Erlangen changed from K to Z sometime in recent years(?), explaining why Erlangen doesn't show up in Barry's list of cities above. And a transfer is allowed. Right, now I remember, you can't really break your journey, as it's supposed to be a "quick" trip. Two strips or more on a 10'r Streifenkarte, OTOH, can be used for a journey lasting up to 90 minutes. I'm not the best one to ask, since I really only ever use these in Erlangen or Nürnberg, and in the latter fairly ignorantly. Playing around with the website a bit, I see you can take the Nürnberger U-Bahn 4 stops from Hbf to Schoppershof on a K ticket, but not 5 stops. (And my old commute from Herrnhütte P+R to Wöhrder Wiese is 5 stops, not a K ticket.) |
