Totally agree with Mark on this one. Its undoubtedly true that tourism has increased greatly in the last few years, but as tourists ourselves we can hardly complain, can we? We always drink in the schwemme in the Schlenkerla and have no problem getting served quickly. I also love Keesman, Spezi and Fassla. And if there's a more beautiful small city than Bamberg in the world, I haven't seen it yet. As for the country breweries and kellers, Ive managed to visit around 80 taps and 30 kellers, all without spending a night outside Bamberg. Using the buses, trains and a good bit of walking, its perfectly possible to get round any number of country breweries. But Bamberg has nice walks and not just the brewery taps but Abseits, Pizzini, Stohrenkeller, Pelikan, Stilbruch, Bootshaus and the Wilde Rose, Spezi and Fassla kellers. And Barry, if Id been subjected to then service you had in the Mahrs, I would never set foot in the place again. |
