Shame about the Hetzi, I thought that it was pretty good from the bottle, with little carbonation. It's all about controlling the CO2 used to dispense. It's amazing how many pub owners/managers can't sort out their dispensing systems. In our golf club, my ex-pub owning friend regularly has to sort out their 'fobbing' problems. On a similar subject, because of the poor quality of beer management, a few years back, Guinness started a system where a representative would visit each pub to clean the lines. Unfortunately, this was only monthly, when you need to clean Guinness lines at least weekly. You don't need any training to run a pub in Ireland or the UK (nor, I imagine in Germany), although there have been attempts by different breweries to establish some kind order but there is no consistency. Sorry about those bottles! But managing them and our grub to eat on the train and our backpacks was just too much. Last time I put bottles in my backpack (a present of some Hirschbrau for Charly), one bottle broke - it took me days to get the stain out of my clothes! Anyway, I hope Frank enjoyed them. |
