OT: Sad news

After you alerted Cherie and me to this last week, our hearts were heavy. Even with so many good things that happened during our time - and they were very good indeed, with you and J being far more than just a little instrumental - it was an unhappy coda to an otherwise wonderful time of immersion in the Zoigl culture, and for us, time later spent with friends and family in the Rheinland as well. Charly was well-known and liked in his community, and a frequent and popular guest in the Zoigl Stub'n as well. He was a kind and generous host. We were fortunate that he accepted our invitation to visit a couple of out-of-town Zoigl Stub'n just a couple of weekends ago. We raised a glass to the memory Charly at our local (Kauler Hof, Päffgen Kölsch) last week, and will do so again at our local this week.
